About Mat

Hi — I'm Mateo. My friends call me Mat, and this is where I keep my writing.

I'm working on my first novel, Titan: the story of a puppy who loses his sight in a fire and discovers that the world doesn't end where the dark begins — it just starts speaking in other languages. Wind in the olive trees. Rain on a friend's shoulders. The particular way footsteps sound when they belong to someone you love.

I started writing because a good friend of mine published his book and made it look like something a regular person could actually do. It turns out he was right. It also turns out that writing a book is the hardest fun I've ever had.

When I'm not writing, I'm probably reading, or arguing with a cat about something. The cat usually wins. That may have influenced the book.
